Being the Saint of the Gold Cloth of Capricorn, Shura is extremely loyal (Capricorn being the most faithful of the Saints and a confidant of Athena) The Capricorn Cloth was given the sword "Excalibur" which Shura holds inside of his right arm. During his fight against the Bronze Saint: Dragon Saint Shiryu, Shura used Excalibur against the Saint in attempts to stop Shiryu. Shura (Along with several other Saints) where fooled by the head Saint that Athena was safe. Shura ended up losing his life against Shiryu. Years before his death, Shura was the one to kill Sagittarius Aioros for kidnapping Athena but he didn't know what the head Saint (Pope, I'm guessing) had planned for Athena.
In the Poseidon arc, Shura coached/helped Shiryu against Poseidon's Saints. And later in the Hade's arc, Shura came back as a warrior for Hade's. (Unfortunity, my copy of the dvd's end at the begining of the Hade's arc so I cannot comment on the rest of the arc)
